THE 614 FOR LINDEN
The 614 stands for the six nonprofits, one neighborhood, and four community development financial institutions (CDFIs) who are collaborating to have a transformational impact to stabilize the neighborhood.
Ohio Capital Finance Corporation (OCFC) will serve as the lead CDFI and fiscal agent for The 614 for Linden. OCFC will also lead efforts to provide innovative and flexible capital to create and preserve the supply of affordable housing.
The Affordable Housing Trust of Columbus and Franklin County (a certified CDFI)will offer additional lending for affordable housing development.
The Finance Fund Capital Corporation (a certified CDFI) will provide capital for the creation of a business or businesses that provide healthy food access to the neighborhood.
Economic Community Development Institute (a certified CDFI) will offer consulting and micro-lending to local small businesses and entrepreneurs seeking to start or expand an operation.
Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Families (and its Healthy Homes program) will help develop and preserve affordable housing in the community.
Nationwide Children’s Hospital, a partner in Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Families, will expand longstanding Linden health services to include premature birth prevention, enhanced development screening for preschoolers, school-based obesity prevention and prenatal care.
Community Shelter Board will provide rapid rehousing efforts for Linden residents threatened by homelessness.
Community Development for All People, a faith-based partner in Healthy Neighborhoods Healthy Families, will assist with developing healthy food options and will provide community engagement services.
The Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio will contribute additional affordable housing development through its member organizations.
Saint Stephen’s Community House will provide strategic thinking to help direct efforts where they are needed most and will help connect residents with resources, opportunities, and services.
Greater Ohio Policy Center will serve as the external project evaluator to track The 614’s progress and develop impact reports that will be available to the public.
In addition to these partners, The 614 for Linden is actively engaged with the City of Columbus, Department of Neighborhoods, and New Salem Baptist Church. The 614 will also work to assemble a neighborhood advisory committee to incorporate community feedback further.
